Explanation of term

A ranking () provides an at-a-glance view of whether applicants appear suitable for a position based on their answers to screening questions. It is distinct from the rating, which assigns applications an ABC evaluation.

Configuration

System behavior

  • Linking with screening questions
The ranking is linked to the screening questions in the job opening.
  • Suitable question formats
Screening questions where the answer is not a text field or textarea (e.g., multiple choice or yes/no) can be relevant for the ranking.
  • Relevant factors
The values minimum requirement and weighting of the screening question are crucial for the ranking. These values are configured in the job opening.
  • Example of a ranking
You want to hire a project employee who needs language skills in German, English, and Spanish; Russian would be advantageous. In the screening questions, you can evaluate these languages using a multiple-choice format:
    • German: Weighting 5
    • English: Weighting 5
    • Spanish: Weighting 4
    • Russian: Weighting 2
  • An applicant states that they are fluent in German and English but have no knowledge of Spanish or Russian. The ranking is calculated as follows:
    • German: 5x5 = 25 points
    • English: 5x5 = 25 points
    • Spanish: 0x4 = 0 points
    • Russian: 0x2 = 0 points
Total score: 50 out of 80 possible points, which equals 3.1 out of 5 stars.
  • Display in the system
If applicants answer a question below the minimum requirement, the ranking is displayed in red (). Otherwise, they receive between 1 and 5 yellow stars, depending on the result.
  • Changes
If the weighting for a screening question is changed, this change is applied to all previously answered questions.

How our customers use this
