Mandatory fields are fields in a form that must be completed or answered before the form can be submitted. They are marked with an * in input forms.


Configuration

In many cases, mandatory fields are predefined and cannot be changed.

However, in certain system areas, you have the option to define whether a field should be Mandatory, Optional, or Hidden using the Field Schema Configuration.


System behavior

    Fields that are essential for the functionality of d.vinci are system-defined as mandatory fields.
  • Validation and Error Handling
    If a mandatory field is not filled in, an error message appears. Forms can only be submitted once all mandatory fields are completed.
  • Custom Definition of Mandatory Fields
    In some cases, you can determine whether a field should be displayed as mandatory, such as when creating screening questions or using the Field Schema Configuration.

How our customers use this

In the application form, our customers only request the most necessary data to avoid deterring applicants with lengthy forms. However, the requested data is usually defined as mandatory fields.
