Explanation of term
The application portal can be used in two ways: comprehensively, to display or extend your career page, or as a repository/list for publications that can be embedded on any website through the job list or used for displaying on job boards via a link and interface.
Configuration
If you navigate to the Application Portals page and click on + Create, you can create a new application portal.
See Create Application Portal
Application Portal as Career Page
When the homepage is activated, the application portal can extend or replace your career page. It can be largely adapted to the layout of your homepage. Contact us for further details. On the homepage, you can add custom code, insert an image, define a heading that can include text and additional images, edit the footer, and use an additional right-hand column. The job listing is displayed on this page.
Application Portal as Publication Repository
If you don't use the application portal as a career page, the homepage will be disabled.
An application portal is always connected to a publication channel. This enables the transfer of publications to various platforms. For example, you can create an application portal for: Homepage, Intranet, StepStone, Monster, etc., and display a job list via a widget on the page (e.g., Homepage or Intranet) or provide data through an interface for the portals (e.g., Stepstone or Monster).
Using Content Management System
If you embed content via a CMS on your website, configure the application portal so that both the homepage and job posting are disabled. You can then pull the content from the interface and design it on your homepage as desired.
System Behavior
- Data Retrieval
When an application portal is created, the interface (Job Publication API) is activated. Job boards can then retrieve data via the interface (JSON, XML, or RSS) in conjunction with the URL.
Learn more here: Getting Started: Connecting Job Boards with d.vinci. - Renaming
The name of application portals can be changed at any time. There are no dependencies. For external systems, the internal name is always the key. - Preview
When an application portal is open, the Preview button is located at the top.
Click it to see how the application portal will look when the URL is accessed.
Depending on your configuration, you will see either a job list or, if you have configured the homepage tab, the homepage content will also appear in the preview. - Copying
Application portals can be copied either from the application portals list using the copy icon or from within an open application portal by clicking the Copy button. - Deletion
Before deleting an application portal, always check whether it is connected to external systems or if there is a link to specific publication channels that you may not yet be able to reach without it. If necessary, you should first link the publication channel to another application portal if you want to continue using that channel. Please note: An application portal always has only one publication channel. Configuration Notes
- Data Tab
- Properties
- Name
The name of the application portal should be chosen to clearly identify the portal's purpose. Examples: StepStone, Intranet, Homepage - URL Path
The URL is the address where the job listings can be found.
The URL Path field is not mandatory since it is also possible to create a portal without specifying a URL. This is typically the case for the "Homepage" portal. However, the field must be unique. If a label is entered more than once, an error message will appear. - URL
This is automatically generated after the application portal is created and serves as the address for the application portal and its job list. - Organizational Unit
This indicates which publications can be displayed with which organizational unit. - Job Publication Channel
This links to the Job Publication Channel. If the job publication channel is enabled in the publication, the job posting will appear in the application portal.
You likely have publication channels that are named exactly like the application portal. - Layout
The Layout determines how the homepage, job posting, and application form are displayed. - Languages
You can select multiple languages. These determine in which languages the publications can be displayed. - Primary Language
The content will first be displayed in the primary language. - Fixed Source
You can set a fixed source for an application portal. This ensures that all applications will come from this source. Learn more here: Fixed Source.
- Name
- Functions
- Enable Job Advertisement
Job Advertisements contain the content of the job publications, job publication template, etc.
Only when you enable the function can job advertisements be displayed in the application portal. - Fixed Job Advertisement Template
The fixed job posting advertisement template overrides the selection of the job advertisement template in the job publication. This ensures that you always use the same job publication template for an application portal, regardless of what users select in the job publication. - Job Advertisement Template
The job advertisement template is used for publications where you haven't selected a job opening template. - Fixed Application Questionnaire
The fixed application questionnaire overrides the selection of the application questionnaire in the listing. This ensures that you always use the same application questionnaire for an application portal, regardless of what users select in the listing. - Application Questionnaire
The application questionnaire is used for listings where you haven't selected an application form. - Application Questionnaire
Applications can be imported from job boards or through employee referral programs. The following options are available. Learn more in the main article: - Application Import
- Enable Job Advertisement
- Search Engines
- Application Portal Visible to Search Engines
If you select "No," we will write in the code of the application portal that search engines should not index this page and should not follow it. However, whether they comply is up to them. - Enable Google for Jobs
If you enable this option, the job postings of the application portal will be readable for Google for Jobs. - Company or Organization Name
Google requires you to specify a company name for the job postings in the application portal. Since only one name can be stored, it is recommended to create an application portal for each company. - Company or Organization URL
Google requires a link to your company's website.

- Additional Settings
- Special Characteristics
If you specify a special characteristic here, such as Internal Applicant [IA] or Personnel Service Provider [PSP], all applicants applying through this application portal will receive this characteristic. This is useful, for example, for internal applicants or those entered by a personnel service provider. - Additional Header
Additional style elements or tracking codes can be embedded via the Additional Header and will apply to all pages of the application portal. - Consent Management
Consent Management Tools (CMTs) are used to manage visitor consent on your career page regarding the use of their personal data. This is especially relevant for data protection regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union. These external tools allow you to request consent from visitors and manage their preferences regarding the use of cookies and other tracking technologies. This ensures transparency and control over the use of personal data and helps you comply with applicable data protection regulations on your career page.
Your script for embedding a CMT is manually entered in the Additional Settings of an application portal in the Consent Management field. Please note that d.vinci does not provide support for embedding such an external CMT. - Data Protection Layer for Embedded Videos Enabled
This feature allows you to display videos from YouTube and Vimeo in compliance with GDPR. If Yes is selected, videos from both platforms will receive an additional layer informing viewers that by loading the video, they accept the statements of the external video portals. This feature requires that you insert the video via the editor in the job posting template or on the homepage of the application portal. We cannot read custom-written code.
- Special Characteristics
- Interface
After creating the application portal, the interface area appears in the tab Data on the right-hand side. Data from external platforms can be retrieved and processed via the interface.
- Properties
- Start Page
- Button Activate Start Page
If the button start page is activated, you can use the application portal as a career page, including the job list. The settings in the tab Start Page will then be visible to everyone who accesses the application portal's URL. - Additional Properties
- Additional Header
This additional header only applies to the homepage and not to all pages of the application portal. Global scripts should be entered in the Data tab.
- Additional Header
- Click to Upload
This is the header or panoramic image for the application portal. - Heading
You can include any text and images in the heading that should appear above the job list (list of job offers). - Job List
You have specified an application portal when creating the job list. All job offers that refer to the application portal are displayed here. Under certain circumstances, a note is displayed under the job list where old job list code has been stored in the Start Page. You can remove the code, but you do not have to. We plan to do this for you at some point in the future. - Additional Information
Here you can enter additional information below the job list that applicants can see. For example, a link to the unsolicited application is often added here.
- Footer
Usually, a footer is created here, at least with links to privacy policy and legal notice. - Click for Image Upload
This is the closing image, at the very bottom of the application portal page.
- Button Activate Start Page
- Security Tab
- IP Policy
With the IP Policy, you can restrict access to an application portal to a specific IP segment. This is useful, for example, in the intranet. - SSO for Application Portal enabled
Application portals like the intranet should not be accessible from outside to protect your company's internal information. In the security settings of an application portal, we have added a new feature called SSO for Application Portals. To use this, SSO must be configured in the basic settings.
By using the SSO for Application Portals feature, access to the application portal's URL is only granted when users are logged into d.vinci or they log in with their Single Sign-On credentials when they access the application portal's URL.
To secure an application portal with SSO, SSO must be set up and activated in the basic settings (example setups: Set up Single Sign-On (example "ADFS"), or Set up Single Sign-On (example "Azure Active Directory")), enabled for the user, and the user's login method must be Single Sign-On.
Testing the Security
To test whether access to the URL works with existing SSO, please log out of d.vinci and then access the URL of the application portal. If the security works, a corresponding message will appear.
Recognizing Activated Security
In the application portals list, you can see at a glance which application portal has the function enabled by looking for the shield and keyhole icon. - Embedding of Job Ads as Iframes Enabled
Some job boards require job postings to be embedded via iframe. If this is the case, you can enable this function. Learn more here: Display Job Postings via Iframe

How Our Customers Use This
In most cases, the application portal is used to generate entries in the job list (as a publication repository), and data is passed to job boards via the interface.
In a few cases, the application portal is used as a career page. This is often the case for customers who do not have their own career page, when there is no intranet, if internal positions need to be listed separately, or if specific positions need to be quickly displayed in a separate area.
